SF502 with DN500 flanged connections for high flow rates
SonFlow SF500 is a single-pass series of gasketed plate heat exchangers for industrial and central heating and cooling systems with high flow rates. It has the largest overall dimensions in SonFlow’s gasketed range. KONTECH offers the SF502 model with DN500 flanged connections, sized for the required thermal duty and allowable pressure drop.
The gasketed construction allows inspection, cleaning and replacement of plates and gaskets. SF502 is supplied on request. The configuration, price and delivery lead time are specified in the quotation.

New heat exchanger
Send the fluids, flow rates and inlet and outlet temperatures on both sides. Specify the pressures, allowable pressure drop and installation constraints.
Heat exchanger replacement
Send photos of the nameplate and unit, operating parameters, overall dimensions and connection details. We will assess the options for replacement with a SonFlow unit.
Plates and gaskets
Send the model, serial number and required quantity. Attach photos of the nameplate, plate or gasket, and specify the fluids and operating temperatures.
Dimensions and configuration of the SF502 model
SF502 uses plates measuring 1248 × 2400 mm. The horizontal and vertical port centre distances are 672 mm and 1822 mm respectively. The configuration offered by KONTECH has a design pressure of 10 bar and DN500 flanged connections.
When to select the SF500 series
KONTECH recommends SF502 for projects with high flow rates and DN500 connections that require a gasketed plate heat exchanger. Selection is checked against the thermal duty, temperatures, flow rates and allowable pressure drop.
Planning includes checks of the transport route, access to the installation site and lifting arrangements. Space must be provided to open the frame and service the plate pack.
When to consider another series
For different flow rates, connection sizes or overall dimensions, consider the other SonFlow gasketed plate heat exchangers.
For fluids containing particles or fibres, or with higher viscosity, the suitability of a Free Flow plate heat exchanger is assessed.

Configuration for the fluids and operating conditions
Plates
SF502 is available with AISI 304, AISI 316 or titanium plates. The material is selected according to the fluid composition, temperatures and corrosion resistance requirements.
Frame
A painted carbon steel frame, RAL 5010, is available with a design pressure of 10 bar. Overall dimensions and service clearances are specified for the selected configuration.
Gaskets
SF502 uses glued NBR or EPDM gaskets. The material is selected according to the fluids, temperatures and cleaning agents.
Connections
SF502 is available with DN500 flanged connections. The connection ports are unlined carbon steel. Mating pipe flanges are not included.
