SonFlow SF400 Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger
Models SF401 and SF402 with DN400 flanged connections
SonFlow SF400 is a series of single-pass gasketed plate heat exchangers with DN400 flanged connections for industrial and HVAC systems with high flow rates. It includes models SF401 and SF402. The configuration is selected according to the required thermal duty, flow rates, temperatures and allowable pressure drop.
The frame can be opened for plate inspection, mechanical cleaning, and plate and gasket replacement. Selection also takes account of installation space and maintenance access. SF400 is supplied to order, with the price and delivery time specified in the quotation.

New heat exchanger
Send the fluids on both sides, flow rates, and inlet and outlet temperatures. Specify the pressures, allowable pressure drop, and available space for installation.
Heat exchanger replacement
Send photos of the nameplate and unit, operating parameters, overall dimensions and connection details. We will assess replacement with SF400 or another series.
Plates and gaskets
Send the model, serial number, required quantity, and photos of the nameplate, plate or gasket. Include the fluids and operating temperatures, if known.
Models SF401 and SF402
Both models use plates with a width of 1152 mm and a horizontal port pitch of 660 mm. The two plate heights provide selection options according to the thermal duty and installation constraints.
SF401 · plate size 1152 × 1902 mm
The vertical port pitch is 1410 mm. The overall frame height shown in the drawing is 2266 mm. The model is available with a design pressure of 10 or 16 bar.
SF402 · plate size 1152 × 2393 mm
The vertical port pitch is 1901 mm. The overall frame height shown in the drawing is 2757 mm. The model is available with a design pressure of 10 bar.
When to consider SF400
KONTECH recommends considering SF400 for systems with high flow rates and DN400 flanged connections that require a gasketed plate heat exchanger. The two plate heights provide options when sizing a single-pass unit.
Selection considers thermal duty, temperatures, flow rates and allowable pressure drop. Installation planning also covers delivery access, lifting arrangements, and the space needed to open and service the plate pack.
When to consider another series
For different flow rates, connection sizes or overall dimensions, explore the other SonFlow gasketed plate heat exchangers.
For fluids containing particles or fibres, or with higher viscosity, a Free Flow plate heat exchanger can be assessed.
Typical applications of SonFlow SF400
- Central heating and cooling: Heat transfer between water circuits in central plants. The configuration is selected according to the thermal load, operating temperatures and hydraulic constraints.
- Industrial processes: Heating and cooling of process fluids and waste heat recovery. Fluid composition and compatibility with the unit’s materials are checked during selection.
- Data centres: Separation of cooling circuits with high flow rates. Selection considers the required thermal duty, temperature approach and allowable pressure drop.
Configuration for the fluids and operating conditions
Plates
The SF400 series is available with AISI 304, AISI 316 or titanium plates. The material is selected according to fluid composition, temperatures and corrosion resistance requirements.
Frame
A painted carbon steel frame in RAL 5010 is available. Design pressure is 10 or 16 bar for SF401 and 10 bar for SF402. Frame dimensions are specified according to the model, plate pack and installation requirements.
Gaskets
NBR or EPDM gaskets with glued attachment are used. The material is selected according to the fluids, temperatures and cleaning agents.
Connections
The SF400 series is available with DN400 flanged connections in carbon steel. Mating pipework flanges are not included. The connection configuration, flange standard and pressure rating are specified in the quotation.
