SonFlow SFB31 and SFB32 brazed plate heat exchangers
The SonFlow SFB30 series includes two standalone models: SFB31 and SFB32. They are based on two different dimensional formats and cover different heat duty, flow rate and allowable pressure drop ranges. The SFB31 is available with a TL plate profile and configurations of up to 101 plates, while the SFB32 is available with TL, TM or TK plate profiles and configurations of up to 151 plates.
The models are available with a design pressure of 25 or 40 bar, an operating temperature range from -100°C to +185°C, and different threaded or pipe connections. The specific model and configuration are determined according to the application and operating parameters.
The units feature a copper-brazed construction without replaceable gaskets. The heat exchangers are manufactured from corrugated AISI 316 stainless steel plates, brazed with copper in a vacuum process. The resulting plate pack provides a large heat transfer area relative to the overall dimensions of the unit.
The SFB31 and SFB32 are configured independently. The SFB31 is available with a TL plate profile and configurations from 11 to 101 plates. The SFB32 is available with TL, TM or TK plate profiles and configurations from 11 to 151 plates.
The SFB31 is the compact model in the series, with overall dimensions of 305 × 128 mm. Selected configurations with a design pressure of 40 bar are available for fast delivery. The model can be used for liquid-to-liquid heat transfer or as a plate condenser or evaporator, subject to verification against the specific refrigerant and operating conditions.
The SFB32 is the larger model, with overall dimensions of 509 × 128 mm, a greater available heat transfer area and a choice of three plate profiles. Selected configurations with a design pressure of 25 bar are available for fast delivery for standard liquid-to-liquid applications. Versions with a design pressure of 40 bar, including configurations for condenser or evaporator duty, are available on request.
The SFB31 is a 100% dimensional and connection equivalent to the SL34, with matching overall dimensions and port centre distances. The SFB32 is a 100% dimensional and connection equivalent to the SL70, with matching overall dimensions and port centre distances. When replacing an existing unit, the connection type, plate count, design pressure, fluids, temperature programme, heat duty and allowable pressure drop must be verified.

When used as a condenser or evaporator, the model cannot be selected on the basis of design pressure alone. The refrigerant, condensing or evaporating conditions, temperatures, heat duty, pressure and allowable pressure drop must also be verified.
For fluids containing solid particles or fibres, fluids with high viscosity, or applications with an increased risk of clogging, a SonFlow Free Flow plate heat exchanger or another heat exchanger type may be more suitable, depending on the application.
