SonFlow SF100HE is a series of gasketed plate heat exchangers with DN100 flanged connections, comprising the SF106HE and SF107HE models. The High Efficiency plates have an optimised geometry designed for heat transfer with a temperature approach of 0.5 °C.
You receive a configuration for the required thermal duty and outlet temperatures, taking account of the allowable pressure drop in your system. The gasketed construction provides access for cleaning and replacing plates and gaskets. SF100HE is supplied on request with a standard delivery time of 4 weeks. The price and specific delivery time are confirmed in the quotation.

New heat exchanger
Send the fluids, flow rates, inlet temperatures and required outlet temperatures on both sides. Include the operating pressure and allowable pressure drop. If a specific temperature approach is required, include it too.
Replacement heat exchanger
Send photos of the nameplate and connections, together with the available operating data and overall dimensions. State the reason for replacement. We will assess a replacement using SonFlow SF100HE or another series.
Plates and gaskets
Send the model, serial number, required quantity and photos of the plate or gasket. Include the fluids, operating temperatures and cleaning agents, if known. We will contact you if further details are needed.
SF106HE and SF107HE models
SF106HE and SF107HE use High Efficiency plates with the same size width and different heights. Both models have DN100 flanged connections and optimised plate geometry designed for heat transfer with a temperature approach of 0.5 °C.
SF106HE has a lower frame height and is considered where installation height is limited. SF107HE provides a larger heat transfer area per plate. The model and number of plates are determined by the required thermal duty, temperatures and allowable pressure drop.
SF106HE
Plate dimensions: 377 × 1295 mm, with a vertical port pitch of 1138 mm. The frame height shown in the drawing is 1526.5 mm. Allow additional space to open the unit and carry out maintenance.
SF107HE
Plate dimensions: 377 × 1713 mm, with a vertical port pitch of 1556 mm. The frame height shown in the drawing is 1944.5 mm. Allow additional space to open the unit and carry out maintenance.
When to choose SF100HE
KONTECH recommends SF100HE for systems with DN100 flanged connections that require heat transfer at a close temperature approach between the two fluids. The series is designed for water and water-glycol systems, process cooling and heat recovery.
SF100HE is considered when a fluid needs to be cooled to a temperature close to the cooling medium’s inlet temperature. In heating applications, the aim is for the heated fluid’s outlet temperature to approach the heating medium’s inlet temperature.
The High Efficiency plates have an optimised geometry for these applications. The key benefit is heat transfer with a 0.5 °C temperature approach in a compact gasketed construction. This makes the series particularly relevant where installation space is limited and a close temperature approach is required.
When to consider another series
If the required outlet temperatures can be achieved with standard plates, explore the other SonFlow gasketed plate heat exchangers. Selection is based on thermal and hydraulic sizing.
For fluids containing particles or fibres, or with higher viscosity, a configuration with Free Flow plates is assessed. The channel geometry is selected according to the fluid properties and cleaning requirements.
For clean fluids where access to the plates for mechanical cleaning is not required, a brazed plate heat exchanger may be considered.

- Data centres: heat transfer between cooling circuits where the fluid being cooled must leave at a temperature close to the cooling medium’s inlet temperature.

- Industrial processes: heating and cooling process fluids to a specified outlet temperature, subject to assessment of fluid composition and operating conditions.
- Electronics: separation of cooling circuits for production equipment with specified temperatures, flow rates and material requirements.
Configuration for your fluids and operating conditions
Plates
SF100HE is available with High Efficiency plates in AISI 304 or AISI 316. The material is selected according to fluid composition, temperatures and corrosion conditions. The model and number of plates depend on the required heat transfer and allowable pressure drop.
Frame
A painted frame in RAL 5010 is available with a design pressure of 10 bar or 16 bar. Frame dimensions are specified for the selected model and plate pack. The installation must allow space to open the unit and service the plates.
Gaskets
Gaskets are available in NBR or EPDM. The material is selected according to the fluids, operating temperatures and cleaning agents. The permissible temperature is confirmed for the selected gasket material and configuration.
Connections
SF100HE has DN100 flanged connections. The manufacturer specifies carbon steel connections with rubber lining or AISI 316 cladding. The connection construction, flange standard and pressure rating are specified during selection.

Frequently asked questions
In cooling applications, it is the difference between the outlet temperature of the fluid being cooled and the inlet temperature of the cooling medium. SF100HE can achieve a temperature approach as low as 0.5 °C with suitable sizing and operating conditions. The achievable value is assessed against the flow rates, fluids and allowable pressure drop.

The option is assessed against the new operating conditions. Adding plates requires a new thermal and hydraulic sizing calculation. Include any planned increase in thermal duty in your initial enquiry, if known.
