SonFlow SF300 Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger

SonFlow SF300 is a series of gasketed plate heat exchangers with DN300 flanged connections for HVAC and industrial installations. It includes the single-pass SF301, SF302 and SF304 models with three plate heights. The configuration is selected according to flow rates, temperatures, thermal duty and allowable pressure drop.
The dismantlable construction provides access to the plates for inspection, mechanical cleaning and replacement of plates and gaskets. SF300 heat exchangers are supplied to order. The price and delivery time are stated in the quotation.

New Heat Exchanger
Specify the fluids, flow rates and temperatures on both sides. Include the operating and design pressures, allowable pressure drop and available space for installation and maintenance.
Heat Exchanger Replacement
Attach photos of the nameplate, heat exchanger and connections. Send the operating parameters. We will assess replacement options using SF300 or another SonFlow series.
Plates and Gaskets
Specify the model, serial number and required quantity. Attach photos of the nameplate and the plate or gasket. Include the fluids and temperatures so we can check material compatibility.
SF301, SF302 and SF304 models
All three models use plates with a width of 868 mm and a horizontal port centre distance of 480 mm. The different heights provide different heat transfer areas per plate. Model selection is based on thermal and hydraulic calculations.
SF301 · Plate Size 868 × 1462 mm
SF301 has the shortest plate in the series. The vertical port centre distance is 1080 mm. The overall frame height shown in the dimensional drawing is 1811 mm.
SF302 · Plate Size 868 × 1872 mm
SF302 uses a plate with a height of 1872 mm. The vertical port centre distance is 1490 mm. The overall frame height shown in the dimensional drawing is 2221 mm.
SF304 · Plate Size 868 × 2502 mm
SF304 has the tallest plate in the series. The vertical port centre distance is 2120 mm. The overall frame height shown in the dimensional drawing is 2851 mm.
When to consider SF300
KONTECH recommends considering SF300 for central HVAC and industrial systems with high flow rates and DN300 connections. The series is selected for heating, cooling or heat recovery duties requiring a gasketed plate heat exchanger with access to the plates.
In the single-pass arrangement, each fluid flows once along the length of its channels between the plates. Plate size, profile and quantity are selected together to meet the required thermal duty and hydraulic constraints.
When to consider another series
For different flow rates, connection sizes or dimensional requirements, explore the other SonFlow gasketed plate heat exchangers.
For fluids containing particles or fibres, or fluids with higher viscosity, a Free Flow plate heat exchanger may be considered following a review of the operating conditions.
Typical Applications of SonFlow SF300
- Central HVAC systems: Heat transfer between water and water-glycol circuits in central heating and cooling systems. Selection takes account of flow rates, operating temperatures and allowable pressure drop.
- Industrial processes: Heating and cooling of process fluids, cooling of production equipment and waste heat recovery. Compatibility is checked for all components in contact with the fluids.
- Data centres: Separation of cooling circuits through heat exchange. The configuration is selected according to thermal duty, required temperatures and the hydraulic constraints of the installation.
- Geothermal systems: Heat transfer to a secondary circuit. The primary fluid is assessed for chemical composition, fouling potential and compatibility with the plates, gaskets and connections.
Configuration for the fluids and operating conditions
Plates
Plates are available in AISI 304, AISI 316 or titanium. The material is selected according to the chemical composition and temperatures of the fluids. The plate profile and quantity are determined by the thermal duty and allowable pressure drop.
Frame
The painted frame is available with a design pressure of 10 bar, 16 bar or 25 bar, depending on the model. Its construction and length are specified according to the model and plate pack. Space must be provided for opening and maintenance.
Gaskets
Gaskets are available in NBR or EPDM. The material and attachment method are specified for the selected configuration. The operating temperature is confirmed according to the fluids, pressure and gasket material.
Connections
The SF300 series is available with DN300 flanged connections in painted carbon steel or with rubber lining. The connection arrangement is selected according to the fluids and operating conditions. Mating pipe flanges are not included in the supply.

The three models have the same plate width and different plate heights. This changes the heat transfer area per plate and the overall unit height. The model, plate profile and quantity are selected according to thermal duty, flow rates and allowable pressure drop.
