SonFlow SF150 Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger
SF151, SF151D, SF152, SF152D, SF154 and SF156 models with DN150 flanged connections
SonFlow SF150 is a gasketed plate heat exchanger with DN150 flanged connections for heating, cooling and heat recovery in HVAC and industrial installations. The plates and gaskets are accessible for cleaning, inspection and replacement. KONTECH selects the model and configuration according to the specified thermal duty.
The series includes six models with a choice of AISI 304, AISI 316 or titanium plates and NBR or EPDM gaskets. Units are supplied to order, with a standard delivery time of approximately 4 weeks. The price is determined for the selected configuration and stated in the quotation, which also confirms the delivery time.

New heat exchanger
Send the fluids on both sides, flow rates, and inlet and outlet temperatures. Include the operating pressure, allowable pressure drop and installation constraints, if known.
Heat exchanger replacement
Send photos of the nameplate and unit, available operating parameters, overall dimensions and connection details. We will assess replacement options using SonFlow SF150 or another series.
Plates and gaskets
Send the model, serial number, required quantity and photos of the nameplate, plate or gasket. Include the fluids and operating temperatures, if known.
SF151, SF151D, SF152, SF152D, SF154 and SF156 models
SonFlow SF150 plate heat exchangers use plates with a width of 502 mm and a horizontal port pitch of 296 mm. The series includes plates of equal width in four different heights, providing different heat transfer areas per plate.
SF151D and SF152D are Deep variants with a greater pressing depth, forming deeper fluid channels.
The Deep profile forms deeper channels between the plates. KONTECH considers this profile when the channel geometry suits the fluid and required hydraulic conditions. Deeper channels may help reduce the risk of clogging. Selection between SF151D and SF152D is based on thermal and hydraulic sizing.
SF151 · 502 × 1096 mm plate
The model with the lowest plate height in the series. The vertical port pitch is 890 mm. It is considered for duties where this plate height and the selected plate pack meet the heat transfer requirements.
SF151D · 502 × 1096 mm plate
A Deep variant with the same plate dimensions as SF151 and deeper fluid channels. It is selected when required by the application, following an assessment of the thermal duty, fluid properties and allowable pressure drop.
SF152 · 502 × 1498 mm plate
The vertical port pitch is 1292 mm. The plate provides more heat transfer area than the SF151 plate. The model, plate profile and number of plates are determined during sizing.
SF152D · 502 × 1498 mm plate
SF152D is a variant of SF152 with deeper fluid channels. The plate dimensions are the same: 502 × 1498 mm. It is selected when required by the application and when the deeper channels suit the fluid properties.
SF154 · 502 × 1900 mm plate
The vertical port pitch is 1694 mm. The model offers the next plate height in the series while retaining DN150 connections. Selection takes account of the operating parameters and available installation space.
SF156 · 502 × 2300 mm plate
The model with the greatest plate height in the series. The vertical port pitch is 2094 mm. It is considered when this geometry suits the heat transfer requirements and available installation space.
When to consider SF150
KONTECH recommends the SF150 series for duties requiring DN150 flanged connections and a gasketed plate heat exchanger for heating, cooling or heat recovery. Four plate heights and two Deep variants allow selection according to the specific installation requirements.
Plate size, profile and number of plates are assessed together during sizing. A taller plate provides more area per plate, but does not determine the thermal capacity on its own. Selection also depends on temperatures, flow rates and allowable pressure drop.
The gasketed construction is an advantage where periodic inspections, mechanical cleaning or gasket replacement are required. Installation space must allow the plate pack to be opened and serviced.
When to consider another series
For different flow rates, connections or overall dimensions, consider the other SonFlow gasketed plate heat exchangers.
For fluids containing particles or fibres, or with elevated viscosity, suitability for a Free Flow plate heat exchanger is assessed.
For clean fluids where access to the plates for mechanical cleaning is not required, a brazed plate heat exchanger may be considered.
Typical applications of SonFlow SF150
- HVAC and district heating substations: Heat transfer between water or water-glycol circuits in district heating substations and central heating and cooling systems.
- Heat pumps and chillers: Separation of water circuits with different operating conditions. The configuration is selected according to temperatures, flow rates and allowable pressure drop.
- Industrial processes: Heating and cooling of process fluids, cooling of machinery and equipment, and recovery of waste heat.
- Data centres: Heat transfer between cooling circuits according to the required thermal duty, temperature approach and hydraulic constraints of the system.
- Marine applications: Cooling and auxiliary systems. For seawater duties, titanium plates and suitable connection protection are considered.
- Chemical and mining industries: Heating and cooling following an assessment of the chemical composition, viscosity and particle content of the fluids.
Configuration according to the fluids and operating conditions
Plates
The SF150 series is available with AISI 304, AISI 316 or titanium plates. The material is selected according to fluid composition, temperatures and corrosion resistance requirements. The plate profile and number of plates are determined during sizing.
Frame
The design pressure is selected from 10 bar, 16 bar or 25 bar according to the installation requirements. The frame is specified for the selected model and plate pack. Installation and maintenance requirements are considered during selection.
Gaskets
NBR or EPDM gaskets are available with the option of Hang-on attachment without adhesive. The material is selected according to the fluids, temperatures and cleaning agents. The allowable operating temperature is confirmed for the specific configuration.
Connections
The SF150 series is available with DN150 flanged connections. Depending on the fluid, connections with rubber lining, AISI 316 cladding or titanium cladding are selected. Mating pipe flanges are not included in the supply.
