SonFlow SF60 Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger

The SonFlow SF60 series comprises single-pass gasketed plate heat exchangers for HVAC and industrial applications. The four models have plates of equal width and different heights. The model, plate corrugation and number of plates are selected according to the fluids, flow rates, temperatures, allowable pressure drop and available installation space.
The gasketed construction provides access to the plates for inspection, cleaning and gasket replacement. The series is supplied on request, with a standard delivery time of approximately 4 weeks. The price and specific delivery time are stated in the quotation.

Send the fluids on both sides, flow rates, inlet and required outlet temperatures, operating pressure and allowable pressure drop, if specified.
Heat exchanger replacement
Send photos of the nameplate and the unit, together with the available operating data, dimensions and connection details. We will assess replacement options.
Plates and gaskets
Send the model, serial number, required quantity and photos of the nameplate, plate or gasket. Specify the fluids and operating temperatures, if known.
SF61, SF62, SF63 and SF64 models
The four models in the SF60 series use plates with a width of 306 mm and a horizontal port centre distance of 192 mm. They differ in plate height and vertical port centre distance. During selection, these dimensions are considered alongside the required heat transfer area, hydraulic conditions and available installation height.

The model with the lowest height in the series. Vertical port centre distance: 380 mm. Frame height: 629 mm.
SF62 · plate 306 × 817 mm
Vertical port centre distance: 700 mm. Overall frame height shown in the drawing: 949 mm.
SF63 · plate 306 × 1167 mm
Vertical port centre distance: 1050 mm. Overall frame height shown in the drawing: 1299 mm.
SF64 · plate 306 × 1517 mm
The model with the greatest height in the series. Vertical port centre distance: 1400 mm. Overall frame height shown in the drawing: 1649 mm.
When to choose the SF60
KONTECH recommends the SF60 series for applications requiring DN65 flanged connections and a gasketed heat exchanger for heating, cooling or heat recovery. The four plate heights allow the model to be selected according to the operating conditions and installation space constraints.
Plate size and the number of plates are considered together during selection. A taller plate provides more heat transfer area per plate, but the choice also depends on flow rates and allowable pressure drop. Space must be provided both for the unit itself and for opening and servicing the plate pack.
When to consider another series
For different flow rates, connection sizes or dimensional requirements, explore the other SonFlow gasketed plate heat exchangers.
For fluids containing particles or fibres, or fluids with higher viscosity, a Free Flow plate heat exchanger may be considered.
For applications with clean fluids that do not require access to the plates for mechanical cleaning, a brazed plate heat exchanger may be considered.

Configuration to suit the fluids and operating conditions
Plates
The SF60 series is available with plates in AISI 304, AISI 316 or titanium. The material is selected according to the fluid composition, temperatures and corrosion resistance requirements. The plate corrugation and number of plates are determined during sizing.
Frame
A carbon steel frame painted in RAL 5010 is available with a design pressure of 10, 16 or 25 bar. The frame type and size are specified according to the configuration and installation.
Gaskets
Hang-on gaskets in NBR or EPDM are used. The material is selected according to the fluids, operating temperatures and intended cleaning method. Other gasket materials can be considered on request.
Connections
The SF60 series has DN65 flanged connections. Carbon steel flanged connections are available with rubber lining or AISI 316 or titanium cladding.

Yes. The configuration is selected according to the glycol type and concentration, temperatures, flow rates and allowable pressure drop. These data are required for sizing and gasket selection. Please also specify any additives in the solution, if known.
The gasketed construction allows the plate pack to be opened for inspection and mechanical cleaning. The manufacturer also specifies the option of cleaning in place (CIP) without dismantling. The method and cleaning agents are selected according to the type of fouling and their compatibility with the plates and gaskets.
This depends on the revised sizing and the construction of the existing unit. The new temperatures, flow rates and allowable pressure drop are assessed to determine whether adding plates is suitable for the heat exchanger.
The series has no fixed price. The price depends on the model, number and material of the plates, gaskets, frame, connections and accessories. Once the operating parameters have been clarified, KONTECH prepares a quotation with a proposed configuration and price.
