SonFlow SF100 Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger

SonFlow SF100 is a single-pass series of gasketed plate heat exchangers for HVAC and industrial applications. It includes five models with DN100 flanged connections. Four plate heights and the SF101D variant with deeper channels provide a choice according to the required heat transfer, flow rates and installation space.
The gasketed construction provides access for inspection, cleaning and replacement of plates and gaskets. The series is supplied to order with a standard delivery time of approximately four weeks. The price and specific delivery time are confirmed in the quotation.

New heat exchanger
Send the fluids on both sides, flow rates, inlet and outlet temperatures. Specify the operating pressure, allowable pressure drop and installation constraints, if known.
Heat exchanger replacement
Send photos of the nameplate, operating data and overall dimensions. We will assess replacement options using SonFlow SF100 or another series.
Plates and gaskets
Send the model, serial number, required quantity and photos of the nameplate, plate or gasket. Specify the fluids and operating temperatures, if known.
SF101, SF101D, SF102, SF103 and SF104 models
All five models use plates with a width of 375 mm and a horizontal port pitch of 225 mm. The series includes four plate heights. SF101D is the Deep variant of SF101, with a greater pressing depth that forms deeper flow channels.
SF101 · plate 375 × 874 mm
The model with the lowest plate height in the series. The vertical port pitch is 719 mm. The overall frame height shown in the dimensional drawing is 1084 mm.
SF101D · plate 375 × 874 mm
SF101D has the same plate dimensions as SF101, with deeper flow channels. This variant is considered when the channel geometry suits the fluid and operating condition.
Plates with a Deep profile
The Deep profile forms deeper channels between the plates. It is considered when this geometry suits the fluid and allowable pressure drop. Deeper channels may help reduce the risk of clogging. Selection requires a review of the operating conditions.
SF102 · plate 375 × 1220 mm
The vertical port pitch is 1065 mm. The overall frame height shown in the dimensional drawing is 1430 mm. The model and number of plates are determined during sizing.
SF103 · plate 375 × 1520 mm
The vertical port pitch is 1365 mm. The overall frame height shown in the dimensional drawing is 1730 mm. Selection depends on the thermal duty.
SF104 · plate 375 × 1926 mm
The model with the greatest plate height in the series. The vertical port pitch is 1771 mm. The overall frame height shown in the dimensional drawing is 2136 mm.
When to consider SF100
KONTECH recommends the SF100 series for duties requiring DN100 flanged connections and a gasketed plate heat exchanger for heating, cooling or heat recovery. The five models offer a choice of plate heights and a variant with deeper flow channels.
Plate size, profile and number of plates are considered together during sizing. A taller plate provides more heat transfer area per plate, but selection also depends on flow rates and allowable pressure drop. Installation space must allow the plate pack to be opened and serviced.
When to consider another series
For different flow rates, connections or dimensional requirements, consider the other SonFlow gasketed plate heat exchangers.
For fluids containing particles or fibres, or with higher viscosity, a Free Flow plate heat exchanger may be considered.
For clean-fluid applications that do not require access to the plates for mechanical cleaning, a brazed plate heat exchanger may be considered.
Typical applications of SonFlow SF100
- HVAC and district heating substations: Heat transfer between water or water-glycol circuits in district heating substations and central heating and cooling systems.
- Heat pumps and chillers: Separation of water circuits with different operating conditions. Selection considers temperatures, flow rates and allowable pressure drop.
- Industrial processes: Heating and cooling of process fluids, cooling of machinery and equipment, and recovery of waste heat.
- Data centres: Heat transfer between cooling circuits according to the required thermal duty, temperatures and hydraulic constraints.
- Marine applications: Cooling and auxiliary systems. For seawater duties, titanium plates and suitable protection of the wetted connection surfaces are considered.
- Chemical and mining industries: Heating and cooling following a review of the chemical composition, viscosity and particle content of the fluids.
Configuration for the fluids and operating conditions
Plates
The SF100 series is available with AISI 304, AISI 316 or titanium plates. The material is selected according to the fluid composition, temperatures and corrosion resistance requirements. The plate profile and number of plates are determined during sizing.
Frame
A carbon steel frame painted RAL 5010 is available with a design pressure of 10 bar, 16 bar or 25 bar. The frame size is selected according to the model and plate pack. Installation and maintenance requirements are considered during selection.
Gaskets
Hang-on gaskets in NBR or EPDM are fitted without adhesive. The material is selected according to the fluids, operating temperatures and cleaning agents. The permissible temperature is confirmed for the selected configuration.
Connections
The SF100 series is supplied with DN100 flanged connections. Rubber lining, AISI 316 cladding or titanium cladding is selected according to the fluid. Mating pipe flanges are not included in the supply.

Frequently asked questions
SF101, SF102, SF103 and SF104 use plates with the same width and different heights. SF101D is a variant of SF101 with deeper flow channels. The model, profile and number of plates are selected according to the thermal duty, flow rates, allowable pressure drop and installation space.
SF101D is considered when deeper channels suit the fluid and required hydraulic conditions. They may help reduce the risk of clogging. For fluids containing particles or fibres, or with higher viscosity, a Free Flow series is also considered.

This depends on revised sizing and the existing frame. The new temperatures, flow rates and allowable pressure drop are reviewed. Adding plates is proposed when it is suitable for the existing unit and the revised operating conditions.
The price depends on the model, number and material of the plates, gaskets, frame and connections. Once the operating data has been clarified, KONTECH prepares a quotation with a proposed configuration and price.
